The experts say it's time to introduce bottles now (of breastmilk,) so we gave it a try. Eventually, she got the hang of it...although it was far from love at first sight! We're happy to report that after filming ended, Stella polished off a whooping 3 ounces and later went right back to Mommy without any issues. Hurray!

Happy for your breastfeeding success, Momma! NOt sure who the experts are that you refer to, but in our world, we say, hold off on bottles as long as possible, or altogether. Babies suck on bottle nipples differently from the breast and long term this can mean a gradual decrease in your supply. Also, an option is cupfeeding to avoid that issue if you need to go out for a while. Enjoy! Miss you guys! Looking forward to seeing an even chubbier Stella soon!
ReplyDeleteYes, and look for slow-flow nipples for alternative caregivers to use, as babies tend to drink much more (and much faster) from a bottle than at the breast, making them feel less satiated at first. (And also making pumping mamas worry that they're not producing enough when in fact they're producing exactly what their babies need. Babies make the most effective pumps, after all.)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Stella!
